Arts Education Fundraiser Cabaret

Help our fourth year Arts Education students raise money for their P.L.A.C.E. trip next semester by attending their Cabaret:
  • December 4th
  • $10 per ticket
  • Ticket includes entry fee and one free shot
  • Tickets are available from any fourth year Arts Ed student

Candy Canes & Food Bank


This holiday season, the ESS will be selling candy canes for your enjoyment!
  • Mon, Nov 30: 12:00-2:00pm
  • Tues, Dec 1: 11:30 - 2:15pm
  • Wed, Dec 2: 11:30 - 2:30pm
  • Thurs, Dec 3: 11:30 - 2:15pm
  • Booth set up outside the Education Lounge
  • 50 cents ($0.50) each
  • Comes with optional tag [To: ___ From: ___] and ribbon if you would like to give a gift of a candy cane to a friend!

We will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. The bin to drop off your donations will be next to the candy cane booth all week. Seasons Greetings!

"Gangs in Schools" PD Event


The ESS will be hosting our next Professional Development Event on "Gangs in Schools". Here are the details:
  • Thursday, Dec 3 at 7:00pm
  • KHS 185
  • Constable Chad Bourassa from the Regina City Police will be presenting
  • Open question period after the session
  • A piece of education clothing will be handed out as a doorprize
  • Attendees will receive a certificate to add to their portfolio

We've received many emails asking when the next CPR Training Event will be hosted, since we had to cancel our October one due to lack of interest. We have booked J & T Consulting for a training event on January 16 and 17, 2010. We will be asking for sign-ups a little closer to the event, so stay tuned!

Clothing Orders have arrived!

Hello lovely education students! If you ordered clothing in September, your orders are in! You should receive an email by one of the ESS Executive members (Randee, Mariah, Andrea, Robin, Brianne or Hope) tonight or tomorrow. You will have a pick-up time specific to your ESS member. If you do NOT receive an email, email us at ureginaess@gmail.com, it's possible we could not read your writing or there was a typo.

Mongolie Grill Night



As our first major fundraiser for the year, the ESS is putting on a Mongolie Grill Night! Here are the details:
  • Thursday, November 12th
  • Between 4pm-9pm
  • $20.00 per ticket
  • Stir fry, soup, rice, wraps and drinks included (Coors Lite, pop or coffee)

PD Event Certificates

If you attended the PD Event "Healthy Active Kids and Literacy", your certificates will ready for pick-up on Friday, October 30. Just visit the Education Lounge, and they are on the desk to your immediate right. Thanks for attending and look for the next PD Event which will be announced very soon!

Next PD Event: CPR Training



As you may have guessed from the poll on the sidebar, our next PD Event is going to be a CPR Training Event. Here are the details:



  • October 17 and 18
  • You pay $90, we pay the other $40 (total = $130)
  • $120 for non-education students, we pay $5.00

Next Meeting

Head's up to all of our current ESS! Our next MANDATORY meeting is October 14 at 5:00pm in the Education Lounge. You MUST be there unless you have a very valid excuse (email patton2r@uregina.ca if you will be missing).

A Review: "Healthy, Active Kids and Literacy" PD Event

The ESS was pleasantly surprised to see over thirty people attend last night's PD Event, "Healthy, Active Kids and Literacy"! After a few technical difficulties, our clinician June LeDrew began her amazing presentation of the importantance of today's children living active lives. Did you know?




  • 27% of kids's waking hours are spent in front of a screen?


  • Kids as young as eight are being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes?


  • Today's children are expected to live shorter lives that their parents?

Free PD Event - "Healthy, Active Kids and Literacy"

Just a reminder about the free Professional Development Event tomorrow night: Wed, Septempter 30 at 7pm in CL431. The topic is "Healthy, @ctive Kids and Literacy".
