Professor Angela Davis is an American political activist, educator and author. Davis was most politically active during the late 1960s through the 1970s and was associated with the Communist Party USA, the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Panther Party. Prisoner rights have been among her continuing interests; she is the founder of "Critical Resistance", an organization working to abolish the prison-industrial complex. She is presently a retired professor with the History of Consciousness Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz and is the former director of the university's Feminist Studies department. Her research interests are in feminism, African American studies, critical theory, Marxism, popular music and social consciousness, and the philosophy and history of punishment and prisons. Kelly Gerein, a first year teacher at St. Alphonsus Elementary, Yorkton and
Nicole Romanow, a first year teacher at Sacred Heart Community School
These educators will be presenting their first year experiences in the field and discussing:

What is it: Come hear about different experiences from a number of education students who just finished their internship semester. There will be experiences from urban, rural, and international settings, as well as from secondary, early childhood, and elementary focuses. In addition to the intern speakers, we will also hear from a cooperating teacher and a first year teacher who will discuss their experiences with the internship program and how it prepared them for their first year of teaching. There will also be a question period at the end of the night.
